"Tutor 4 Today"
Mackenzie's Gold Award project was called "Tutor4Today." It was designed to give educational support for students who couldn't pay for the high cost for tutoring. By connecting them with tutors (high schoolers) Mackenzie found this really helpful for them to actually stay engaged. She successfully recruited a diverse group of volunteers from the West Morris Central High School. The volunteers were very excited to see what Tutoring was all about. They all ended up being fantastic. The tutoring platform was well-received, with a good number of students and tutors actively participating. Many students showed notable improvement in their grades and overall confidence. The project created a model that can be replicated in other communities, ensuring ongoing free educational support for students. Overall, "Tutor4Today" successfully met its goals by providing valuable educational resources and creating a positive impact on both students and volunteers. I believe free tutoring should be available for all in need.

Parents reached out to Mackenzie through the email she created for the program. From there, she matched each student tutor with a child who needed help. Sessions were organized into two one-hour classes, from 4–5 p.m. and 5–6 p.m., on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Mackenzie realized that she has strong leadership abilities. She can guide and inspire a team, delegate tasks effectively, and create a positive and productive environment, even when some students didn't feel like they wanted to learn.

Mackenzie graduated this past June from West Morris Central High School. She will be attending Lenoir Rhyne University in North Carolina, and will be majoring in Communications. Through the Gold Award, she found that she can be a leader and use her voice to shed light to situations that some kids are facing, and give them the support they need.
