Sasha Leanne Valentino

“All Together Art”

Sasha Leanne Valentino created a service project for her Gold Award entitled All Together Art. Her experience with children and being an Arts and Crafts Specialist at Meadowbrook Country Day Camp helped her come up with this idea. She realized that special needs children did not get many opportunities to participate in group activities that are geared specifically towards them. Sasha developed a Gold project to address this and held arts and crafts classes for elementary school children with special needs. She organized and planned five sessions at the Washington Township Public Library, To ensure her project continues on, she passed her curriculum on to a special needs camp serving her community.

Sasha joined scouting 10 years ago as a Brownie Scout in Troop 86. As a Junior Scout, Sasha worked with her troop 87 to earn her Bronze Award by collecting small stuffed animals and making cool ties to be sent our troops overseas. As a Cadette, Sasha earned her Silver Award by focusing on displaced people in our community. She made reusable Easter basket centerpieces to be given to the Market Street Mission in Morristown, New Jersey. The Market Street Mission meets the various needs of the homeless in Northern New Jersey. She also collected extra Halloween candy to be sent to our troops.

Sasha graduated in June 2019 from West Morris Central High School in Chester, NJ. She has been involved in Fencing and earned the Undefeated Fencer of the year award her sophomore year. She was a part of the International Baccalaureate Career Academy Program at her school. Through this program she has taken college level courses while still in High School. Sasha is looking forward to furthering her education at Duquesne University’s five year Masters program in Forensic Science and Law in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Her mom, Kristina, has supported the troop in many ways over the years.
